DSEA: Disciplinary Societies and Education Associations

Welcome Reception and Conversation with PKAL Director, Susan Elrod

March 31, 2010

An Invitation to DSEA Members from Amy L. Chang, Education Director, American Society for Microbiology and Jay Labov, Senior Advisor, National Academy of Sciences

Come learn about the new partnership between PKAL and AAC&U. This partnership creates an opportunity to reinforce and extend PKAL's focus on strengthening undergraduate STEM learning. Susan Elrod will share some of the early questions and issues she is wrestling with in her first months as PKAL director and seek the advice, counsel and support of the DSEA community in shaping answers to those questions and dealing with those issues.

In preparation for the event, consider the following:

  • Where are the immediate points of synergy to focus on, given the priorities and commitments of individual DSEA members?
  • What is the best organizational way to link individual members and the DSEA community to provide advice and support to Susan and to PKAL in the coming months?
  • Is it possible to develop a three-five year agenda for DSEA as a collaborating partner with PKAL/AAC&U?
