PKAL-Atlanta Network Meeting: Enriching the STEM Undergraduate Experience: Pedagogy and Interdisciplinary Connections
November 6, 2009
Gainesville State College
Project Kaleidoscope (PKAL) is a national network of academics dedicated to reform in undergraduate STEM education. The Atlanta-PKAL network has received funding to host a series of two workshops that will focus on the enrichment of the undergraduate STEM experience. The first of these workshops will be held at Gainesville State College on Friday, Nov 6 09 and is funded by the national PKAL office. The focus of this first workshop is on both ‘Pedagogy and Interdisciplinary Connections’ in undergraduate STEM.
The second of these workshops will be held at another Atlanta-PKAL institution in April 2010 and will be funded by the USG-STEM initiative. The focus of this second meeting will be ‘Pathways from Classroom Pedagogy to Undergraduate Research’.
We are writing this note to invite you to participate in this series of workshops to foster an inter- institutional and interdisciplinary conversation on how we can enrich the undergraduate STEM experience for our students with mentoring, both in and out of the classroom. This workshop is designed to be participatory and interactive. Your attendance will also help shape the agenda for the Spring 10 USG-STEM /Atlanta-PKAL workshop which will further explore novel classroom pedagogy and how it can lead to undergraduate research.
There are no fees for attending these workshops. For participants travelling from a long distance, travel support is available based on need. We invite you to participate and help shape this conversation on how to enrich the undergraduate STEM experience in our region. If you are able to attend the meeting at Gainesville State College on Friday November 6, please click here to RSVP.
