Arthur B. Ellis

Arthur B. Ellis received his B.S. degree from Caltech and his Ph.D. degree from MIT, both in chemistry. He joined the chemistry department of the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1977. In 2002, he undertook a detail at the National Science Foundation as director of the chemistry division, where he served until 2006. Ellis then joined the University of California, San Diego as Vice Chancellor for Research. He has received the NSF Director's Distinguished Teaching Scholar Award and the NSF Director's Meritorious Service Award.
