Terry Sargent, a founding Principal of Lord, Aeck & Sargent, has more than 35 years of architectural experience, including the design of education, science, research, historic preservation, and healthcare projects. He leads the design process at Lord, Aeck & Sargent guiding the design teams in their exploration of a building's ultimate purpose and divining that purpose's most elegant, appropriate expression.
Terry received both his Bachelor of Architecture and his Master of Urban Planning from The University of Michigan and this focus is reflected in his architectural approach. His designs emphasize the unification of the interior and exterior environment, sensitively incorporating and responding to the surrounding built environment.
His clients, peers and professional associations continually recognize his work for design creativity. Terry has received numerous design awards, two National AIA Honor Awards, three Progressive Architecture Design Awards, more that thirty regional and local AIA Design Awards, and two Lab of the Year Awards. He has served as an AIA juror for numerous awards programs including the National AIA Honor Awards, and the Michigan, North Carolina, Virginia, Missouri, California, Arkansas, Texas Honor Awards. Terry has served as a guest lecturer and critic at colleges and universities nationwide such as The University of Michigan, Georgia Institute of Technology, and the University of Texas.
